Amercian Soldier

A. I think the most emotionally moving photo in this collection is Breaking Down. In this photo one of Fisher's friends comforts him while he's overwhelmed.

B. The images work together very well. If they were in order without any captions people would still understand what is going on. There's reassuring people in the photos, many of them show Fisher uniform, and they're all very clear.

C. The captions help explain the situation in the more completely. They also help draw out emotion.

D. Ian Fisher was a boy who joined the army right out of High School. He left his family and friends and girlfriend to train. These photos show his whole experience training and fighting and his personal relationships while being a true American Soldier.

E. Most captions are written in the present tense when Ian is the main subject.

F. Captions:
1. Majority of the captions are 2 sentences unless they include a quote.
2. The first sentences explain what is happening in the photo.
3. The second sentences provide background information or explain what happened before the photo was taken.
4. The third sentences are normally quotes or excess information.
5. The captions with three sentences include quotes.
6. There are very few captions with 4 sentences but there is at least one.

G. Pictures may not speak a thousand words, but they really can tell a story. Some photography is just so moving that you completely get the picture or can even imagine yourself being there. This was an exceptionally great series of photos and captions that told a spectacular story surrounding one subject.

H. People can tell stories in different ways, just like people understand stories in different ways. We need authors and photographers because we have viewers and readers.
