Self-Portrait vs Selfie
What is a selfie? A selfie is hand-held photo taken of oneself. Usually done with a front camera or with a mirror.
What is a self-portrait? A self-portrait is a planned photo of oneself. It is taken by the subject but typically had more effort put into it than a selfie.
Is there a difference? If so, what? Self-portraits usually had more effort put into them and are made to last longer. Meanwhile selfies are made to be replaceable and and are impromptu.
What style do you prefer? Why? I prefer self-portraits because they reveal more about who the subject is. However, in certain situations, I do equally enjoy selfies because they also look good (depending on the photographer).
Is one more valuable/important than the other? Why? I think that overall self-portraits are more valuable because they're made to be. They're made to last longer and be remembered. Self-portraits are a special event, while people may take selfies everyday.
